in Kottayam District. Teekoy is very prominent on the tourist maps of Kerala
because one of the best and highest waterfalls in Kottayam is the Maramala
Waterfall which just 3 Kms from our property. The other major tourist
attraction nearby is the Illikal Kallu which is one huge rock on the top of the
Western Ghats and this is a popular trekking destination for tourists. Also,
Vagamon a major tourist attraction is just 23 Kms from our property.
Our property is less than a kilometer away from Teekoy town.
From the main bus route you have to turn off into a six meter panchayat road
which winds uphill through 4 hairpin bends before reaching the house on our
property. There are around 10 houses on the way up to our property. After our
house, the panchayat road again winds upwards through another 5-6 hair pin
bends passing through the houses of 8-10 families all of who have houses in
about 3-5 acres of land each.
Our property is ideal for adventurous people who love
trekking and mountain climbing. The house on our property is an old house made
with plenty of wood in the traditional Kerala style architecture and has also
got electricity and water connection. It is situated on a 20 cent flat land
with the rest of the property stretching downwards and upwards. It is the upward
climb that will be ideal for trekking with rocks on the way to the top and
there is also a house on the top of the rocks. With little renovation work this
house will be ideal for taking a rest before you climb down. Also on top of our
property there is a Jalanidhi Water Tank installed by the panchayat to provide
water for all the residents in the nearby houses. So there is continuous water
supply in our property, which has also got a private well for any further
needs. This makes the property ideal for a person interested in doing
agriculture here.
The entire property is bound on all four sides by a 4ft high
rubble wall and has got around 700 rubber trees which are 8 years old and
taping has not yet started. The property also has 20 Mahogany trees, 8 Anjali,
8 coconut trees, 3 Jack Fruit trees and a mango tree which is right on the
premises of the house. To top it all, the Western Ghats are visible from the
compound of our house.
